Warning: This article contains spoilers for the Doctor Foster series 2 finale.
After an unbearable month of tension, Doctor Foster drew to its dramatic conclusion tonight (October 3), with viewers eager to see if Gemma actually ran Simon over.
She didn't – unfortunately – and Simon begged her to rekindle their relationship afterwards, only confirming to fans that he had indeed lost the plot entirely.
Thankfully, Gemma declined (although she did seem like she was seriously considering it) which led to Simon falling apart even more and trying to take his own life not once, but twice.
As the episode ended with the realisation that Tom had finally had enough and ran away from his warring parents, the series drew to a close .
But what did viewers think of it all?
Simon was falling apart from the start of the episode... and people were LOVING it:
Then, he totally changed lanes and some were terrified Gemma might take him back:
She didn't and actually tried to help him kill himself, leading viewers to believe she was the true villain:

But then she totally saved him for Tom's sake:
And many on Twitter were a little mad about that too:
So when Tom ran off? Viewers don't even blame him:
Even if they were kind of mad about the ending:
But at least this means there has to be a third series, right?
Unless there's a secret crossover on the cards...
