You know what's great about Cornwall? Pasties.
You know what's never great, ever? Exercise.
So pity poor Aidan Turner, who told press including Digital Spy that his rule for keeping his impressive Poldark physique is 'no pasties and loads of press-ups'.
'I can't put on a pound - I've got to stay in shape,' he said. 'It's got to be done - because I see Ross in a certain way.

'I work with dialect coaches to get his accent right, and physically I want him to look a certain way too. That was important for me. Considering how physical the guy is, it just made no sense to look any other way.'
Turner's scything moment from the first series is now as iconic as Colin Firth's Mr Darcy emerging sodden from a lake in Pride and Prejudice.
And while the actor insisted that it "wouldn't put [him] off" if he were required to film more shirtless scenes, he again hinted that we might not see many in Poldark's second series, since it was shot last winter.
'We were summer last year, this year we were winter, so it was very different,' he explained.
"It was for logistics. We would've preferably shot in summer, but we just couldn't do it - scripts weren't written. We've got one writer [Debbie Horsfield] on the whole job, writing 10 episodes - it's a lot of work and we just didn't get it all together in time.

'But it actually worked out for the best. It's tempestuous and that seems to fit the tone right this year. We got lucky with it.
'It felt like a very different show when we were out there and, from what I've seen, it looks brilliant.'
