I can't exactly remember when getting matching Christmas pajamas became a thing in my family, but I can tell you, it's now one of my favorite traditions. Over the years, we've done everything from a "classy Christmas," where everyone wore silk or satin green and red PJs, to more traditional — a.k.a. lots of plaid. We don't even get a big family photo in them, it's really more about making sure everyone is comfortable, and there's no fuss about finding the perfect holiday outfit. I'm usually in charge of getting them, and, I assume, if you're here, you're the person in your family who is too. Because I know everyone has different taste, I decided to go with the top brands and sites to buy them online, and highlight some of my favorite patterns, but you can just click through to find the right style for your holiday crew.

Oprah's Favorite Thing from 2022

HonestBaby

HonestBaby

You can shop the HonestBaby website, but you can also get them on Amazon, which I linked here because this pattern in particular was a top-seller for GH readers in 2023. When it comes to shopping for organic pajamas for kids, our experts rated the brand #1. The material is so soft, and the brand has so many prints. The company also made Oprah's Favorite Things list in 2022.

My Personal Favorite

Posh Peanut

Posh Peanut

If I could exclusively sleep in Posh Peanut pajamas, I would. They are the softest jammies I've ever felt, and I am constantly buying them for my new niece when there is a sale. They are pricey, but there are a few things my family loves about them, besides for how cozy they are. The biggest thing is that the sizes have big ranges (6-12 months, for example), meaning your child can grow with them, and you don't have to worry about them outgrowing them by December if you buy 'em in October. And they have adult sizes to match exactly. They also drop new patterns all the time. The Ginger Post design is what you see here.

Now, if you're planning your own classy Christmas like I did, you know that classy also means affordable. And, so, of course Amazon is that. There are so many great brands on Amazon. One of them is Ekouaer, featured in the photo. While we haven't tested them in our lab, because of the high reviews and price, the brand has made our best pajamas for women list. While not real silk, the outside offers a smooth texture, while inside you'll get all the warmth thanks to the microfleece lining.

For Christmas Movie Lovers

Hanna Anderson

Hanna Anderson

Everyone at GH is a big fan of Hanna Anderson. The brand even made our list for the best clothing brands for kids. Made from organic cotton, these PJs are so soft. The biggest draw, though, is that Hannah Anderson has licensed character clothes, meaning you can get your jammies outfitted with scenes from The Elf, The Polar Express and more of your favorite Christmas movies.

Best for Big Families

The Children's Place

The Children's Place

Every year, I'm more and more impressed with The Children's Place matching pajamas offerings. Plus, they often collaborate with celebs, like Mariah Carey, to make exclusive patterns. This year, I noticed they have a whole glow-in-the-dark theme, which is going to be big fun on Christmas Eve. One thing I really like is that many of the PJs have sayings that tie the family together, like "Christmas Crew" or "Team Santa."

Burt's Bees Baby

Burt's Bees Baby

Offered on the website and Amazon, Burt's Bees Baby sets are made from 100% cotton. They are also on the more affordable side considering how soft they are. The brand is often a go-to for me when it comes to baby clothes, but adults will absolutely feel comfortable in these as well. They offer a very pretty earthy vibe to their designs.

Pat Pat is known for its matching styles — for everything from pajamas to full outfits. They even get the pets in on the fun with cute little bandanas. There are so many fun options, but last year, our GH readers really liked this cheeky set. They also have glow-in-the-dark options. They aren't the highest quality, and I recommended sizing up, but I haven't had any issues with shrinkage.

Why do pajamas when you can do onesies? Walmart obviously has great prices, but it's really where it's at when it comes to matching onesies for your family. And if you have tweens or teens, we have a feeling they prefer that style over regular pajamas. Unlike traditional jumpsuits, Walmart's have a full-zip front for easy on and off. Walmart also offers sizes up to 3XL.

Pottery Barn Kids

Pottery Barn Kids

Pottery Barn Kids doesn't just have great furniture! The quality of the clothes is also top-notch. And what's great is you can order online and have them shipped to your store if you prefer a pickup. The sets are made from 100% yarn-dyed organic cotton — that means the yarn is dyed before it gets sewn into the pattern, which helps keep the vibrancy of the color.

Got that Kohl's cash burning a hole in your pocket? Spend it on jammies. Kohl's has plus and big and tall sizes, which makes it score big points. It also has pants, shorts and nightgown options, depending on what each member likes to wear — as well as bandanas for pets. Some sets even come with matching PJs for dolls. Of course, you can find beloved brands, like Carter's, there too.

Old Navy

Old Navy

Was Old Navy the original matching family pajamas trendsetter? Maybe! If you want to keep things simple, Old Navy is the place to go because you can buy just matching shirts, so adults can wear their own pants, which is always a plus in my book. And it's cheaper. Plus, Old Navy has different styles for kids' pjs: collared or snug-fit.
