A bath followed by changing into snuggly pajamas sets the scene for bedtime and signals to your kid that it's time to say goodbye to playtime, hello to winding down. (We also recommend a great children's book before light's out.) A good pair of pajamas should be easy to get on and off, feel soft and keep children comfortable all night.
The experts in the Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles Lab test products to help the entire family get a good night's sleep, from mattresses for kids to the best bedding for adults. Executive Director, Strategy and Operations Lexie Sachs has personally tested dozens of pajama sets for kids over the last seven years, as have many other of our Lab pros who are parents. We also test kids' clothing annually as part of our Parenting Awards.
Pajamas are reviewed for softness, fit and durability factors like shrinkage, pilling and colorfastness. We only recommend pajamas that comply with CPSC guidelines for children's sleepwear, which require that they either be flame-resistant or tight-fitting.
