Baileys is here to prove that their deliciously creamy drink is not just for Christmas, with the launch of a brand-new flavour that's inspired by a very popular cinema snack! And perfect timing with this mini heatwave, too!
We've seen some pretty spectacular flavours in the past from the brand, namely their Tiramisu version and their apple pie version, and now joining the line-up for 2025 is toffee popcorn! Yep, buttery sweet caramel flavours paired with the signature rich Irish cream taste - what more could you want?!
Baileys are calling this new flavour the 'perfect' movie night treat and recommend grabbing your friends, plenty of popcorn, and enjoy a Baileys toffee popcorn movie night over ice, drizzled over dessert, or in a cocktail. If that doesn't sound like the perfect Bank Holiday weekend plan, I don't know what is!
We managed to get our hands on a sample to taste and here's exactly what our senior food & drink writer Mel thought of it:
"Off the get go it has some serious sweet caramel aromas - and a definite hit of that buttery scent you get as soon as you walk into the cinema. It's definitely sweet with a caramelised sugar taste and there's a hint of salted butter popcorn that makes it taste really delicious leaving me wanting more.
Plus, it has that warming kick from the Irish cream. All in all, this is one tasty little drink and I will definitely be making an (untraditional) affogato with this".
To celebrate the launch, Baileys have also created a brand-new recipe idea to truly enjoy the new flavour: a Baileys toffee popcorn boozy milkshake! Here's how to make it:
Baileys Toffee Popcorn Milkshake Cocktail (serves 1)
Ingredients:
- 50ml Baileys Toffee Popcorn
- Milk of choice
- Vanilla ice cream
- Whipped cream, to finish
- Toffee sauce, to garnish
- Popcorn, to garnish
Method:
- Blend together milk, ice cream and Baileys until you have your preferred milkshake consistency.
- Swirl some toffee sauce around a tall glass, then pour in your milkshake, then top it off with a swirl of whipped cream, some toffee sauce, and a handful of popcorn. Enjoy!
This sounds like my idea of heaven (and a slight food coma in the best way possible) and I can't wait to try it out. I could also imagine this flavour tasting amazing turned into our Baileys truffles recipe, or used in our chocolate brownies recipe, too. The ideas are endless!
