The Chelsea Flower Show returns to the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London this week and we're excited to visit the stunning exhibition and try the official rosé wine of the event — the Babylonstoren Mourvèdre Rosé.

The show takes place between 21 and 25 May and Babylonstoren’s Mourvèdre Rosé will be poured as the official rosé of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024 for the fourth consecutive year.

The 2024 harvest was intense this year, with South Africa experiencing a very hot summer season which meant the cellar team had to pick the grapes in the last weeks of January – almost a month earlier than the previous year!

The flavour profile of this year's vintage is described as a sophisticated yet playful rosé with an ethereal blush colour, a balanced acidity, and fresh, floral aromas of rose petals and pomegranate. It's described as being a full bodied wine with a lovely floral character, reminiscent of the freshest spring blooms.

Babylonstoren is a historic fruit and wine farm, located in the premier wine-growing region of South Africa’s Cape Winelands and set against the backdrop of the scenic Simonsberg Mountain — with an equally impressive formal garden on the farm which inspired this year's wine characteristics.

The rosé wine retails for £17.95 for 70cl from The Newt in Somerset, and a variety of independent wine stores and hospitality outlets throughout the UK.
