It's no easy feat to step in at the last minute on Strictly Come Dancing, which is exactly the task Kevin Clifton had over the weekend.

The pro replaced Neil Jones for Alex Scott's routine, and while they scored pretty highly with three 9s for their Ghostbusters routine, there were a few hiccups along the way.

In the middle of the dance, there appeared to be a few moves in which the two were out of sync, and we now know just what was said between them thanks to newly-released audio.

As they both went for a kick, Alex can be heard telling Kevin: "Stop, Kev!"

And at the very end, Kevin apologises as the two embrace, saying: "Well done. You were amazing. I'm so sorry".

We're sure he doesn't have a lot to worry about, as Alex and Kevin ended up third on the leaderboard.

Replacements aside, talk of last weekend's Strictly has been dominated by Catherine Tyldesley and Johannes Radebe's shock exit.

However, judge Shirley Ballas has defended the decision, telling Digital Spy: "You cannot complain if someone is in the bottom two. I have to choose someone with my technical 50 years' experience to go through, and I do not expect the people sitting at home to understand even why I put them through.

"They don't know the technique, they may be looking at what last week was, or what next week could be, and I have to judge it right there and then and I made exactly the right decision."

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 continues on Saturday (November 2) at 7pm on BBC One.
