When you're shopping for the best laptop sleeve, you want something to protect your tech from bumps and dents, but also look good at the same time.

Whether you’re rushing between meetings or taking your laptop with you to the cafe, we think it’s worth investing in a high-quality laptop sleeve. A decent one makes all the difference, and we’ve tried a range of designs to create our list of the top buys.

How we chose the best laptop sleeves

We’ve been hands-on with these sleeves using them to protect our trusty 13-inch M1 MacBook Air. You’ll find that many of our picks come in multiple sizes, which are snug and specific to the laptops they’ll fit, or that you can buy options that are spacious enough to suit a number of different sizes (such as a 14-inch sleeve that will suit various 13 and 14-inch laptops).

When picking the products for our roundup, we’ve focused on ones that will keep your laptop safe from scratches, but also offer a sleek and thoughtful design. We’ve also made sure to pick a few different options at various prices, so you should find something within your budget. Our list is a mix of both our hands-on reviews and recommendations from rigorous research.

Good slim leather sleeve

Harber London Slim Leather MacBook Sleeve Case

Slim Leather MacBook Sleeve Case

If your top priority in a laptop sleeve is a slim design and high-end materials, you'll like this option from Harber London. It’s crafted from full-grain leather and has a super soft wool felt lining, but it has none of the bulk of many other options we’ve seen. It’s designed to fit a MacBook without any room to budge, and it feels luxurious to hold.

We like that it's handmade and the leather will age and develop a unique patina over time. It’s not particularly well-padded, but we’re confident it will offer reliable protection from scratches.

Amazon Basics Laptop Sleeve

Laptop Sleeve
Now 24% Off

After an affordable laptop sleeve? We doubt this one’s going to be winning any awards for design, but the simple Amazon Basics sleeve is made of padded neoprene and sure to provide reliable scratch and bump protection.

We've used an older version of this sleeve and had no complaints. It hasn't got any pockets or extra features, but it comes in several sizes, offers a snug fit for your laptop, and is lightweight for portability.

Good for easy access

Bellroy Laptop Sleeve with Magnetic Closure

Laptop Sleeve with Magnetic Closure

Don’t want to fuss around with a zip to get to your laptop? This smart Bellroy sleeve is made of recycled woven fabric and has a clever magnetic bumper that makes it super simple to slide your laptop in and out of its case.

It’s sold in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes that will suit MacBooks as well as a wide range of other laptops (Bellroy specifies the suitable dimensions on its product page) and there’s a quilted microfibre lining on the inside to keep your device cushioned from any bumps. This is also a nice, slim option, which doesn't take up much extra space in our bags.

Versatile zipped laptop sleeve

Bellroy Lite Laptop Sleeve

If you prefer a zip but still like the look of a Bellroy sleeve, we’d go with the Lite version. It’s made from ripstop nylon and is slim and water-resistant, with a soft interior lining to keep your laptop safe.

Because its dimensions are a little roomier, this is a versatile pick – the 14-inch size had no trouble holding our MacBook Air, but it would also be ideal for a Dell XPS 13, a Microsoft Surface Pro or any laptops up to 31.2 x 22.1 x 1.5cm in size. It's lightweight enough to not weigh down our backpack, while keeping our laptop safe from any daily knocks.

Good for travel and organisation

Gomatic Tech Case

Tech Case

This one is a little different to the others on our list, as it’s halfway between a laptop sleeve and a tech organiser. For us, it’s become an essential for storing our laptop and its associated accessories when we're leaving it at the office overnight, so that these items aren’t always coming to and from the office with us.

Inside, there’s enough room for laptops up to 15 inches in size, plus multiple pockets for chargers and cables. We’ve found it possible to stash our wireless mouse and keyboard in there, too. It’s water-resistant and well-padded, and it has a removable shoulder strap and luggage passthrough that could make it versatile enough for a trip. All this, and it comes with a lifetime warranty.

Leather sleeve with good colour options

Woolnut Leather Sleeve for 13-inch MacBook Pro & Air

Leather Sleeve for 13-inch MacBook Pro & Air

We’re big fans of the leather designs from Woolnut, including the brand’s excellent iPhone cases. This laptop sleeve is tailor-made for MacBooks and fits perfectly. It’s made from Scandinavian full-grain leather, and we like that the opening is on the short side, which makes it easier to charge the computer while it’s still in the sleeve.

It comes at a high price, but the design is clean, premium and minimal, and we really appreciate the muted colours – it’s available in black, brown, green and grey.

Good for security

Mous Universal Laptop Sleeve

Universal Laptop Sleeve

Sold in 14 or 16-inch sizes that are well-suited to the MacBook dimensions, this Mous sleeves is made from water-resistant recycled nylon and has high-density foam and soft fabric in its inner lining. That means it should be protected from light rain and spills.

Combine these great materials with the lid and secure G-hook closure, and you’ve got a high-end sleeve that’s made for keeping your laptop in place and protected. We like that it has a magnetic pocket at the rear too, which is great for stashing your cables, a tablet, a notepad or a Kindle.

Harber London Magnetic Envelope Sleeve For MacBook

Magnetic Envelope Sleeve For MacBook

This is a neat envelope-style sleeve that’s made with both sleek leather and wool-felt. It closes securely via strong magnets, and you can trust your laptop won't fall out when you’re carrying it around. It’s slim for stashing in backpacks, and available in a great range of colours, although we’ve seen quite a few options with more padding.

One of the best things about this sleeve, though, is that you can easily charge your MacBook through the discreet openings available for cables.
