‘I'm a gamer, and these are my top Nintendo Switch deals for Black Friday 2024’

Thanks to some live Black Friday discounts, the Nintendo Switch console and its brilliant games and accessories are going to be within reach for more gamers this winter.
The Nintendo Switch is clearly the best current-generation games console for kids, with a unique roster of games featuring beloved Nintendo characters like Mario, Luigi, Peach, Kirby, Link, Zelda and Donkey Kong.
And as a gamer who likes to play at home with friends and family, I believe the Switch really comes into its own when you plug in and play local multiplayer games together on the sofa (although you can use it for online gaming too).
Whether you’re looking to play colourful classics like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, or active party favourites such as Ring Fit Adventure and Nintendo Switch Sports, the Switch games catalogue gives you countless reasons to pick up your JoyCon controllers for a little friendly competition.
Of course, you can lose yourself in a myriad of single-player Switch experiences too, from the fiendish and fantastic Hollow Knight (one of the hardest games I've played!) to the gorgeously cosy Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Seven years on from its launch, the Switch remains immensely popular – and the console’s price has stayed high. But with the arrival of the Black Friday deals, I’ve spotted some big discounts on Nintendo Switch consoles, as well as games and key accessories including controllers.
I’m going to keep a close eye on the Black Friday sales (including the top PS5 deals) throughout the weekend, for anyone shopping for tech gifts, and I’ll share the best live discounts with you below.
The best Black Friday 2024 Nintendo Switch deals
The Nintendo Switch OLED is the newest and highest-spec version of the Switch, with a larger screen size and improved display specs. If you plan on getting plenty of use out of the Switch in its handheld mode, as well as connected to a your TV or monitor. then it could be worth the added investment.
With £20 off at Argos for Black Friday, the Switch OLED now costs just £30 more than the base Switch, so there's all the more reason to choose this premium version.
So far, we haven't seen many generous discounts on the classic Nintendo Switch console for Black Friday 2024. However, there are some excellent bundle deals available that give you games and other add-ons to go with your new Switch.
This Smyth's Toys bundle costs only £10 more than the Switch itself, and you get your choice of several LEGO games, the excellent Nintendo Switch Sports movement game, plus a 12-month subscription to Nintendo Switch Online. The total value of the bundle far exceeds the price you'll pay.
Don't ask us why, but the slate-grey version of the handheld-only Nintendo Switch Lite comes a few quid cheaper than other colours at Amazon. It's a great choice for commuting, looking as much like a regular tablet as it does a games console.
The Switch Lite does sometimes go cheaper for brief periods during seasonal sales. So, watch this space.
Don't you just love the Just Dance series of motion-sensing dance games? Since the long-gone days of the Nintendo Wii, this legendary game series has got friend groups and families shimmying in front of the TV.

When do Nintendo Switch Black Friday deals start?
Officially, Black Friday 2024 takes place on 29 November, followed by Cyber Monday on 2 December. The biggest and best Nintendo Switch deals are likely to be available between these dates.
With that said, many retailers start their Black Friday sales far earlier than the last Friday of November. At the time of writing, some online stores are already ramping up towards the sales event with some excellent discounts on Nintendo products.
Which retailers have Nintendo Switch Black Friday deals?
It’s always worth checking the official Nintendo store, and specialist gaming or toy retailers such as GAME and Smyths Toys, for Switch discounts during Black Friday sales.
There are also good Nintendo deals to be found via general interest retailers including Amazon, Argos, Currys and Very, which also have some early TV deals to complement your new gaming setup.
