As all pet owners know, our furry friends are the VIPs of the family. They get all the cosiest seats in the house, all the attention, and they have all the best gear. Our family dog, Monty the cocker spaniel, has more coats than me.

All those dog beds, cat toys, waterproof jackets, pet cams, leads and giant bags of kibble can definitely add up though. So, if you want to keep them in the manner to which they’ve become accustomed, you're in luck because Amazon Prime Day is currently in full swing with lots of great deals. But, be warned, they end at midnight tonight (11 July), so if you see something you think they'll love, don't let them down.

To help you sort the flash-in-the-pans from the worth-investing-ins, I've pulled together my top buys for dogs and cats below, with a little help from the rest of the Good Housekeeping team.

How we find the best Amazon Prime Day deals

Throughout the sale, we'll be scouring Amazon to bring you the very best deals on our favourite buys.

These are either products that have been tried and tested by the Good Housekeeping Institute (yes, we test the best dog toys with the help of our panel of discerning pups), or they have been hand-picked by me and the Good Housekeeping editors (who are also dog and cat parents in their spare time).

Here are the deals we've already found for our furry VIPs.

Furbo 360° Dog Camera w/Home Safety Package

360° Dog Camera w/Home Safety Package

Maybe you'd rather not know, but if you want to keep an eye on your pooch when you're out, the Furbo is a great pet-friendly gadget. It has a 360° rotating camera that connects to your phone and lets you see, speak to and even dispense treats to your pets.

Vax SpotWash Home Pet-Design Spot Cleane

SpotWash Home Pet-Design Spot Cleane
Now 50% Off

Okay, this one is definitely for pet owners, not the pets (who tend to despise cleaning tools or, at best, ignore them). This spot cleaner is great for dealing with muddy paws on your flooring and upholstery.

It was the runner-up in our spot cleaner tests and also named 'best for dried in stains', scoring an impressive 95/100. Our testers found it user-friendly and all the handy tools can be stored onboard.

Petlibro Automatic Cat Feeder

Automatic Cat Feeder
Now 15% Off

If you have a cat who's in the habit of waking you up at the crack of dawn for mealtime, or you're worried about getting stuck at the office and missing dinnertime, this automatic feeder could be a game-changer.

You can schedule it to deliver up to six meals a day and you can even record your voice telling them it's dinnertime when the food's dispensed.

Note that this isn't WiFi enabled, so you won't be able to feed them via your phone — opt for the slightly pricer version for that — but this should do the job for most.

Petlibro Cat Water Fountain

Cat Water Fountain
Now 15% Off

Another smart option to make sure your cat is getting is keeping up their H20 intake. This one is compact, can be used wirelessly and is completely silent, so is as discreet as they come. It also notifies you with a flash when the water level is low and it filters the water for the picky feline in your life.

Greener Walker Poo Bags for Dog Waste

Poo Bags for Dog Waste
Now 32% Off

We'll admit, it's not the most exciting purchase out there, but they are a necessity for dog owners.

These are leak-proof, extra thick and the brand uses recyclable materials in its packaging. So, stock up while they're on sale and you'll always have a few to stash in your pocket for the morning walk.

Amazon Basics Raised Dog Bed - medium

Raised Dog Bed - medium
Now 15% Off

This elevated bed is the equivalent of a sun lounger for your pet, designed to keep them cool and comfortable in the shade on warmer days. The mesh surface helps with airflow and it's easy to clean with the hose. It comes in a range of sizes, too.

Outward Hound Hide A Squirrel Plush Dog Toy Puzzle, XL

Hide A Squirrel Plush Dog Toy Puzzle, XL

This one scored 80/100 in our best dog toys roundup. The plush toy comes in a range of sizes to suit different dogs and will keep them busy hunting out the squeaky squirrels inside.

Note that one panel member who is particularly destructive (we're looking at you Monty) did manage to remove the stuffing from all the squirrels, so it's probably not one for the more boisterous pups, but on the plus side, you can buy extra squirrels if needed. It's also machine washable.

Outward Hound Interactive Dog Puzzle Feeder & Treat Dispenser

Interactive Dog Puzzle Feeder & Treat Dispenser

This is one for dogs who are easily bored as it keeps them curious as they search for treats hidden inside. They have to slide the different layers across to uncover the snacks. It's made with non-toxic materials and is nice and sturdy.

It's also useful for dogs who like to gobble their dinner, helping to slow them down (we might need one of these too). And it's also easy to take apart to clean.

Yalixuan Collapsible pet tunnel

Collapsible pet tunnel
Now 15% Off

Described as ‘simply brilliant’ by cat owner and cookery editor, Emma Franklin, this tunnel is the perfect place for cats, guinea pigs, rabbits and, err, ferrets to play. It's also collapsible for when you want to stash it away.

TUG 60° Tangle-Free Retractable Dog Lead

60° Tangle-Free Retractable Dog Lead
Now 19% Off

This lead has withstood multiple walks a day with a very enthusiastic cocker spaniel, so it definitely passes the durability tests. It lets them sniff while still ensuring you're in control (just about!).

JOEJOY Dog Bed Medium

Dog Bed Medium
Now 24% Off

If it wasn't so hot right now, we'd be tempted to curl up in this ourselves. Your dog will certainly appreciate it – the high sides are great for dogs who like to lean their head out and the soft faux fur lining and breathable suede exterior will be very cosy to sleep in. It's also machine washable because no doubt it will need a bit of a freshen up every now and then!

Emmi-pet 2.0 Dental Care Set for Dogs & Cats

2.0 Dental Care Set for Dogs & Cats
Now 23% Off

Yes, they do electric toothbrushes for cats and dogs, and we think this one is better looking than ours. But, unlike ours, it's also silent and doesn't vibrate, so hopefully won't bother your pet. However, it will come down to whether they take to it or not.

Also, it's not always easy to see if it's working, especially as it's silent and you hold it to the tooth rather than scrubbing, but persevere and it will get rid of that plaque (and dodgy breath!).

Furrybaby Dog Paddling Pool

Dog Paddling Pool
Now 15% Off

With another heatwave on the horizon, we'll try anything to help our furry friends cool down. If they love their water sports, this paddling pool will be heaps of fun for them (and you).

It comes in a range of different sizes (and colours) and it's collapsible for easy storage. It's also made from thickened PVC, just in case someone (Monty) tries to gnaw through it...

Blink Mini 2 Plug-in Smart Security Camera

Mini 2 Plug-in Smart Security Camera
Now 47% Off

It's easy to set up with good picture quality, and boasts day and night vision and two-way audio (so you can talk to your pet if you want). It can also link up with Alexa, to add voice control. Not bad for under £20.

Lily's Kitchen Natural Dog Treats Multipack

Now 13% Off

Lily's Kitchen specialises in delicious, natural treats (it's also a B Corp) and is a firm favourite with the GH dogs. This box comes with eight packs of treats and you can either choose a mix of flavours, or buy their favourite to stash away. We hear pork & apple is popular.

Oneisall Dog Clippers for Grooming

Dog Clippers for Grooming
Now 28% Off

If those adorable paws are starting to look a little like they're wearing hairy slippers, it might be time for a DIY trim (although if you have a particularly wriggly pup, we'd probably advise going to the pros).

These dog clippers are specially designed for grooming thick coats and are relatively quiet to avoid spooking more nervous dogs. They feel high quality and have a long battery life (which you can monitor via the handy screen).

Nina Ottosson by Petstages Buggin' Out Puzzle & Play

Buggin' Out Puzzle & Play

Scoring 81/100 with our cat panel, this puzzle feeder has hidden food compartments for them to discover and multiple difficulty levels to get them thinking.

Most of our test cats loved it, although some needed a little training before they got to grips with it.

PitPat Dog GPS Tracker

AONBOY Cat Water Fountain

Cat Water Fountain
Now 15% Off

Cats prefer to drink from running water, so this fountain will keep them entertained. It also has a handy window so you can keep an eye on when you need to refill it. It's quiet, looks sleek and it keeps their water cold and clean. Just how they like it.

PawHut Dog Gate

Dog Gate
Now 15% Off

This gate is a great, easy-fit option if you need to section off an open plan kitchen for your dog to sleep in at night (if they aren't in a crate), or if you want to stop them getting upstairs. It has an adjustable width and it's simple to open one-handed. It also feels sturdy without breaking the bank.
