THE DEAL: Save £271 on the Good Housekeeping Institute's highest scoring mattress in a box.
WHY WE LOVE IT: This scored 92/100 in our testing. As well as coming handily packaged in a box for easy delivery, it offers tailored support thanks to its combo of pocket springs and four layers of memory foam. It has a firmer feel so not for those who like a sink-in surface, but our testers found it comfy and cushioning. “It was instantly comfortable, and I've had such a good night’s sleep ever since,” one told us.

THE DEAL: Save a huge £695 on another top-scorer with our panel, which takes a more sustainable approach.
WHY WE LOVE IT: This scored an impressive 90/100. As well as layers of foam and pocket springs, this mattress also has a layer of wool to help with temperature regulation and a cool Tencel cover. Our testers were big fans of the cooling additions and said it helped reduce sweating at night. This one also arrives in a box (although without handles, so open near your bed) and while some thought it wasn't firm enough, most found it very comfortable indeed. The brand donates all returned mattresses to the British Heart Foundation stores as part of a host of sustainability initiatives.

THE DEAL: £300 off our top pick for hot sleepers.
WHY WE LOVE IT: Another hybrid design that scored 90/100, this helped all our testers get a better night's sleep with one saying it was the most comfortable mattress they'd ever spent the night on! It's medium firm so everyone found it supportive and it's quiet at night. It's a deep and heavy mattress, so you may need new sheets and a helper to turn it but we think that's a deal we can make for better sleep.
THE DEAL: £500 off a delightfully cushioned pillow-top mattress.
WHY WE LOVE IT: This combines sink-in layers of wool, bamboo and fibre on top of pocket springs, for a wonderfully cushioned, creak-free sleep. It's also very stable even with fidgeting partners. It's on the firm side, so side sleepers will approve and the pillow top adds an extra layer of indulgence. Some did find the pillow top dipped after a while but if you like that sink-in sensation, this is a great pick.

WHY WE LOVE IT: This isn't a huge saving but this mattress (score: 88/100) is quite unique in the market – and perfect for any tweens in your home. It's a double-sided design with pocket springs on one side that are soft and supportive for growing bones and then a firmer side for when they're older. It's a 2-in-1 design that should suit for years and our young adult testers found it “just right”.
