There's no escaping the fact that the best robot vacuums are expensive. But, given that they feature some of the most complex tech of all the appliances our experts test at the Good Housekeeping Institute, it's perhaps not a surprise.

However, we've seen some fantastic discounts in the Amazon Prime Day sale, making it a brilliant time to make the switch to a robot – as long as you're quick! One of the deals we're most excited about is a 27% reduction on Eufy's Omni S1 Pro robot vacuum – but you'll have to hurry if you want to get £350 off as the Amazon Prime Day sale ends at 11:59 tonight!

What to read next

The Good Housekeeping Institute has been testing robot vacuums for years, trialling the latest innovations as soon as they hit the market (and sometimes before!) in our specialist floor cleaning room. Over the years, we've sprinkled over 800g of formulated dust onto different surfaces in our quest to find the best robot cleaner for the job.

So how does Eufy's mopping robot vacuum stand up in our tests? Read on for our expert verdict.

The Good Housekeeping verdict on the Eufy Omni S1 Pro Robot Vacuum

Scoring 91/100, Eufy's robot vacuum and mop put in an impressive performance in our lab. Our experts were wowed with how effectively it mopped up ketchup without spreading it beyond the testing area (something that's a common flaw with other models). Our floors were left shiny and odour-free. The robot is also able to detect carpet and react quickly enough to stop the mop brush from going onto your carpeted floors – smart!

It's also an incredibly effective vacuum, lifting an average of 83 per cent of dust and dirt across the different test room floors. Even tricky pet hair didn't prove much of a challenge with the vacuum removing all noticeable strands after two and a half minutes.

Like many robot vacuum models, it struggled at room edges and testers also noted this model only stores mapping for three rooms as opposed to some robots on the market that have memory for four.

Those niggles aside, this multi-tasker is a smart investment. While it's a high tech piece of kit, testers said the docking station made using it fuss-free. The docking station empties, refills and recharges the vacuum and the station itself is tall, so you don't need to bend over or kneel to access the controls – win, win.

With its current sale price of £949, it's still an expensive buy, so if you're looking for a more affordable Eufy robot vacuum, we recommend the Eufy X10 Pro Omni Robot Vacuum with Mop (was £799, now £537), which scored 87/100 in our expert tests.

There's also the Eufy E20 3-in-1 vacuuming station (score 80/100), which features a robot vacuum, cordless vacuum, and handheld in one neat docking station – this is currently £279.
