As a health and fitness writer, I live in gym leggings, whether I'm working out or working from home. The perfect pair has to be ridiculously comfy, non-slip, thick enough so you can't see through them, and hold their shape (no saggy bums, thank you).

I’ve tried and tested hundreds of styles (no exaggeration) over the years, but there’s one pair I reach for on a daily basis: the iconic Lululemon Wunder Train leggings. I love them so much, I own multiple pairs in different colourways (there are plenty of gorgeous designs to choose from).

Don’t just take my word for it though – our Good Housekeeping Institute experts and a panel of testers also put them through their paces on runs, hikes and trips to the supermarket, and they scored an impressive 93/100 in our tests.

What makes them so special? In a nutshell, they’re sweat wicking, squat-proof, gloriously soft, and they won’t sag or go see-through – even after multiple goes in the washing machine.

They’re the dream for all your workouts, whether it’s a chilled-out yoga class, a 5k run, a bracing hike or a squat-heavy strength training session in the gym. They can even handle a seriously sweaty Barry’s Bootcamp workout without chafing, falling down or leaving you with that unpleasant sweat-soaked sensation.

Exercise aside, I wear my black pair on a daily basis, whether I’m running errands, meeting friends or even going into the office. The high-waisted design is equal parts supportive and flattering – I love pairing them with an oversized jumper and some white trainers or Chelsea boots.

They’re supremely comfortable and ideal for lounging around the house – though slim-fitting, the waistband doesn’t feel tight or restrictive and the silky soft fabric feels glorious against the skin. They also come with an internal drawcord so you can find the right fit, and there’s a small internal pocket for your keys. If you prefer training totally hands-free, newer versions of the style come with larger side pocket.

As a bonus, they come in a variety of leg lengths – excellent news for those who are petite or on the tall side. They may be pricey for a pair of leggings, but the quality is impeccable. I've had mine for a couple of years and they still look and feel as good as new. If you only buy one pair, make it these. Wunderful.
