With the days shortening and leaves beginning to turn, it's time to dig out the autumn casserole recipes and restock the wine rack with some richer, warmer wines to accompany them. With this in mind, we asked the expert wine tasters at Wotwine to take a look at some of the new supermarket releases and pick out great wines with heartwarming prices!

Well balanced, savoury wine with ripe red sour cherries, juicy red plums, wet earth and wild herb character.

This wine is perfect with slow-cooked lamb, game casserole or, the traditional pairing in its native Piedmont in Northern Italy, wild boar ragu and pasta. Delicious!

Well-made, intense wine with blackcurrant, dark cherry and capsicum character, elegant oak and a long, complex finish.

Argentina is most famous for its Malbec from Mendoza but the Wotwine team has gone off-piste and selected a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc from the neighbouring province of San Juan. This is a versatile wine which will pair with grilled, roasted or casseroled red meats.

Well-made, characterful wine with ripe plums, dark cherries, blackberries and sweet oak character.

Sometimes it’s better not to translate the names of wines. This, from Southern Portugal, means “Dog House” and is anything but! It is definitely one for those who like ripe, fruity wines.

Youthful, dense, structured wine with grippy tannins and savoury, meaty character. It's worth decanting before drinking or just keeping for a while.

To finish, the Wotwine team has picked a St Chinian, which has long been one of the higher quality areas in the southern French region of Languedoc. This is no exception: a rich and structured wine, and definitely one for beef stew or venison casserole.
