How we test skincare

In the GHI Beauty Lab, our experts use specialist equipment to assess each product against its claims. For example, they monitor any changes to the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles with the help of the VISIA skin analysis machine, and judge products’ moisturising ability using the Corneometer, which measures skin hydration levels.

We also asked our panel of at-home testers to try each product for at least two weeks (sometimes up to 12, depending on claims), before giving us honest feedback on ease of use, packaging, texture and overall performance. Note, all skincare arrives in unbranded packaging to avoid any bias. We then collate all the findings and feedback to aware each product a final score, to help you decide which are worth a spot on your shelf.

Here are our tried and tested winners.
