When you think of a Royal party at the Palace, you think of a private, exclusive affair with the Queen, Prince Phillip and a few select guests – not 10,000 members of the public!
Well, this is very exciting news indeed because the Queen, in honour of her 90th birthday, is holding a giant street party and YOU could be invited.
The party, or Patron’s Lunch as it’s officially called, will celebrate her support of more than 600 organisations and charities. 10,000 members of the public will be invited – the majority of those from the 600 charities and organisations that she supports, but a percentage will also be made available for public ballot.
The lucky members of the public can expect to see the street party stretch down the entire length of The Mall, with the iconic Buckingham Palace at its head. Guests will enjoy a hamper-style lunch and the Queen, Prince Phillip and Prince Harry will all be there.
Organiser, and the Queen’s grandson, Peter Phillips told the BBC, ‘She’s obviously been kept abreast through her office about all the developments, and the times I’ve had the chance to talk to her she’s been excited by it.’
We know the party is a year away but over the coming months we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for an invite! And don’t get us started on what we would wear…
