Who doesn’t love the last scene of Pretty Woman, when Edward ‘rescues’ Vivian by riding a white horse limo, climbing up the fire escape and kissing her passionately?

Turns out there might have been a totally different – and a little sordid if we’re honest – ending.

Julia Roberts, Richard Gere and the rest of the Pretty Woman cast reunited for the first time in 25 years on the set of the Today show where they made the big reveal.

What to read next

Originally, the film was titled 3,000, after the sum Ed pays Vivian, and it was meant to be a sordid tale of drug abuse before Disney bought it.

Julia said, ‘In the original script, Richard’s character threw my character out of the car, threw the money on top of her and drove away and the credits rolled.’

In case that wasn’t shocking enough, can you believe Richard Gere didn’t want the part?

Revealing he turned down the film several times, the actor said, ‘There wasn't a part. There was just nothing. The joke was [it was just] a suit. You could put a suit on a goat and put it out there, and it would work.’

Luckily, Julia charmed him into saying yes! Want to know how? Watch the full interview below to find out.
