Last night's episode (19 Feb) of Call the Midwife could potentially go down in history as the saddest episode ever.
Millions of us gathered around the TV on Sunday evening to watch the nurses of Nonnatus House, but none of us expected to be greeted by two, very sad storylines.
The first was the tragic story of young Reggie, a Down's syndrome man whose mother's sudden death left him alone. Thankfully his cousin was the kind-hearted Fred (the handy man at Nonnatus House) who took him in with his wife Vi.
Reggie found it hard to come to terms with his mother’s passing, which left many of us sobbing on the sofa.

And if that storyline wasn’t traumatising enough, none of us were expecting the sight of a familiar face, former midwife-turned nun Sister Mary Cynthia.
The last time we saw her she had returned to the Mother House to overcome her mental health problems, but when Trixie visited, after her trip South Africa, she realised Cynthia was no longer there.
She had instead been sent to the same horrific institution that Reggie was about to be sent to, facing Electroconvulsive therapy to help her overcome her depression.
But all was not lost, and there were some happier moments in the episode. Reggie eventually ended up in a lovely home for people with Down’s syndrome, while we saw the start of what we hope is a blossoming relationship between Trixie and the handsome dentist Christopher Dockerill.
But the story of Sister Mary Cynthia has yet to be resolved, and our fingers and toes are crossed that Sister Julienne and the rest of the nurses find a way to get her back to Nonnatus House.
Call the Midwife continues next Sunday at 8pm on BBC One.
