Kensington Palace has confirmed that Prince Charles will be walking Meghan Markle down the aisle on Saturday.
In a statement the Palace revealed the news, saying Meghan asked her future father-in-law to accompany her on her wedding day, as she marries his son.
“Ms. Meghan Markle has asked His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales to accompany her down the aisle of the Quire of St George's Chapel on her Wedding Day. The Prince of Wales is pleased to be able to welcome Ms. Markle to The Royal Family in this way.”
Meghan’s father Thomas Markle was due to give the bride away, but due to unfortunate circumstances he is no longer attending the wedding. In a statement she said:
“Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health.”
The BBC has reported that Meghan father’s Thomas has had health concerns and has reportedly undergone heart surgery. Therefore, he is not currently well enough to travel to London.
Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, will be accompanying her in the car on the way to the chapel, while Prince William will be supporting Harry as Best Man.
Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Florence van Cutsem, Remi and Rylan Litt, Zalie Warren, Jasper Dyer and Ivy, Brian and John Mulroney are bridesmaids and page boys.
