Zodiac Aerospace, a French company that supplies systems and equipment for aircraft, has unveiled a new design for an in-plane seating layout for short-haul flights. Could it make our journeys more comfortable?

The new designs see passengers in one row sitting opposite each other. Although this would decrease leg room slightly, it would provide more shoulder and elbow space. It also means that planes would be able to hold more people by creating 35 to 40 extra seats.

So what do we think? Would this design make our flying experiences better or worse? On one hand, we wouldn’t have to worry as much about elbowing our neighbour as they sip their hot coffee, but it does make it more likely that someone would have a full frontal view of our awkward sleeping face.
