2 May: It's a girl!

On 2 May, the Duchess went into labour and the world sat on the edge of its seat awaiting the birth.

At 8.34am the Duchess gave birth to a healthy baby girl! The announcement was made in the traditional way outside Buckingham Palace, as well as on Twitter.

2 May: Prince William leaves the hospital
