Spot the difference! Ladybird Book updates over 10 years
Compare these 1960s Ladybird Book illustrations to their updated mid 70s/80s versions and spot the (sometimes rather amusing) differences.

Ladybird enthusiast Helen Day, who runs the website ladybirdflyawayhome.com first flagged up these, sometimes quite amusing, differences in the illustrations from Ladybird Books from the 1960s compared to the 1970s/80s when they were given a few modernising updates. The changes reflect stricter safety measures, gender equality and urban developments. However, over 50 years later the illustrations still haven't been updated to reflect any further societal changes.
She says, 'I find it odd that these illustrations were revised so heavily after just 10 years, but since then they've stayed much the same - so the 'Peter and Jane' in bookshops today are still the 1970s/80s kids.'
