This year marks the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice, the agreement which ended the First World War. Since starting on July 28, 1914, it finally came to an end at 11am on November 11, 1918, which is why two minutes of silence are held every year at that time, to honour all of those who lost their lives in battle.

On Sunday morning, members of the royal family stepped out for a Remembrance Service in London, where Prince Charles laid a wreath at the Cenotaph to honour the lives of approximately nine million people who were killed during World War I.

Later that evening, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined the Queen at Westminster Abbey for a special service to pay tribute to all those who fought in the war.
