Father Christmas shows his caring side to children with special needs

Samantha Wade had arranged to take her two-year-old son Ryland, who has epilepsy, to visit Father Christmas at a meet and greet for children with special needs. Shortly before arriving, Ryland had a seizure, which completely sapped his energy – but his mum didn’t let that ruin his day.

When Father Christmas saw that Ryland couldn’t open his eyes, he just went with it and closed his too, making it look like they were snoozing together. *Awww*

When Mali Williams-Cody sat on Father Christmas’ knee at the Cleveland Centre, Middlesbrough, her mother explained she couldn’t talk very well. Undeterred, the man in red asked, ‘Can she sign at all?’

The pair began an unforgettable exchange, which was caught on video - unsurprisingly, it has caught the hearts of thousands.

The brilliant Caring Santa initiative gives children with special needs the chance to meet the man himself in a private and welcoming environment. Six-year-old Brayden Deely was not only able to meet Father Christmas, but also spend some quality time with him as they played together.

'Oh my gosh, to be able to do something that other families do...normally a lot of things are harder for us as a family and we got to do the same tradition as everyone else, we just do it on the floor,' said Brayden’s mum, Erin.
