If you think reality shows with their 'and the person leaving tonight... will find out after the break' shenanigans were tense, you have clearly never seen an episode of the Antiques Road Trip.

While browsing through an antiques shop, TV expert Charles Hanson came across two 19th-century vases from Derby and did what we would all do if we spotted 19th-century vases from Derby... pretend to talk to them!

Once he'd finished channelling Val from The Great British Bake Off, Hanson then gave the vases a little rubbin'.

But... disaster STRUCK when Hanson handled the, errr, handle and snapped it clean off!

The red-faced host quickly told the camera that 'it was stuck, and the handle, like on the side of a cliff, has just become detached, so… don't break my heart, you're from Derby.'

You're breaking our hearts here, Hanson.

Just when the situation seemingly couldn't get any worse, Hanson then called the shop keeper over and said, 'Just to let you know, it wasn't me. I was just handling the vase and the handle has just become detached.'

Luckily, the shopkeeper reacted very calmly to the criminal behaviour (maybe it's because he's on TV), telling Hanson, 'We'll get that restored, no worries.'

So it looks like Charles Hanson has got off scot-free. If it were us, we'd get Crimewatch on this right away...

This has been another bad week for the BBC: it was announced yesterday that The Great British Bake Off is leaving the broadcaster, and Channel 4 has snapped it up.
