Angelina Jolie has largely spent the last few years behind the camera focusing on her directing, but she will be moving back onto the screen for the sequel to Disney's Maleficent.

Speaking at the Telluride Film Festival (via Deadline), the actress confirmed the news and gave us hope for a suitably spectacular follow-up.

She said: 'We have been working on the script and this is going to be a really strong sequel.'

'I don't enjoy being single. It's not something I wanted. There's nothing nice about it. It's just hard,' she told The Sunday Telegraph.

'Sometimes maybe it appears I am pulling it all together, but really I am just trying to get through my days.'

Angelina's most recent directorial effort was Netflix film First They Killed My Father, which hits the streaming service on September 15.
