Hollywood actor John Krasinski has spoken of the moment a UK Border Agency officer reminded him that he had “married up” as he stamped his passport at a London airport.

John was asked about his wife Emily Blunt on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, which prompted an audience applause, and led him to respond: "That reaction means I married up, and don't I know it.

“They don't have to tell me; the Customs agent in London did."

He went on to explain that he was visiting his actress wife in the UK while she was filming her new movie, Mary Poppins Returns: “I hit this guy, he’s about my age, he looked like he was about to get a little surly with me.

The agent questioned him about his work and when Krasinski said he was an actor, he asked if he would recognise him in anything. The 38-year-old said he was in the American version of The Office. That’s when things turned sour.

John soon had to explain who he was visiting in England and when he revealed his wife is Emily Blunt, the Customs agent responded "You?!" before he stamped his passport.

Talk about a burn.
