Things are getting emotional on tonight’s episode of The Supervet, as an adorable Labrador puppy called Oscar needs an operation, much to the dismay of his owners.
Tonight (21st March) we meet Eils and her husband Matt who arrive at Fitzpatrick Referrals with their fox red Labrador puppy, Oscar. He’s only six months old but is already suffering from rapidly worsening elbow disease which Professor Noel Fitzpatrick says is as bad as it gets in a dog this young.
Noel proposes a complex two-stage solution for Oscar; to balance out the stress on his elbows by fitting custom made plates to both front legs, and injecting stem cells to help the healing process.
A preview clip released shows Oscar’s family discussing his upsetting health problems.
As Eils says: “You have all these hopes and dreams for you and your dog running around and suddenly it’s all not quite as we imagined it”.
The family’s pet insurance won’t cover all the cost of the surgery, so difficult decisions will have to be made. Unless a solution can be found…
Also in the episode, Lynne and David make the three hundred mile trip from County Durham for an urgent appointment with Noel with their seven-year-old Russian Black Terrier, Raz, who has been diagnosed with a cancerous growth in his left leg.
Jo and Ron have rushed in with their one-year-old cat Korky, who’s been involved in a road traffic accident and is suffering from a crushed pelvis and a broken tail.
The Supervet continues tonight at 8pm on Channel 4.
