It's been nearly three years since Miranda Hart signed off from her classic BBC sitcom, but there's fresh hope that more episodes are coming.

The first hint at a Miranda revival came over the summer when Hart's co-star Tom Ellis confirmed that he was 'talking' with the comedian about exploring the idea of Miranda and Gary as a married couple.

The subject of making more Miranda was broached again on Wednesday (October 4) when Hart admitted on The One Show that Ellis's campaigning had seriously got her thinking of new storylines.

'The lovely Tom Ellis was saying... that he'd like to see Miranda and Gary married,' Hart told The One Show presenter Alex Jones.

"Now he's got me thinking! There's a thought there, to explore the comedy of marriage. Particularly early life marriage and how that would work. I'd quite like to see that."

Hart added: 'I'm thinking about it!'

The comedian also revealed that she once scrapped the idea of a Miranda film when Dad's Army creator Jimmy Perry publicly warned her in an interview that it would be a bad idea.

'I was deciding which way to go with it,' she remembered. 'The two finales that I wrote were really a film story, and it could have gone either way.

'But I felt like it was right to honour the television audiences and all of the people who'd supported it.'

We'll forgive never getting Miranda on the big screen if you hurry up with series four, mmkay?
