Who Do You Think You Are? is a programme that often leaves us feeling emotional, and the most recent episode - that delved in to the family history of Fearne Cotton - was no different.
The TV and Radio presenter discovered among many revelations that her great-grandfather, Evan Meredith, was imprisoned for being a conscientious objector in World War 1.
Evan, a Welsh miner, was imprisoned for his unwillingness to take part in the war, and held in various prisons until he was finally released after the end of the conflict due to ‘ill health’ caused by hunger striking.Fearne was clearly moved by her great-grandfather’s difficult story.
‘What’s clear to me already is… that he didn’t want to go to war because he didn’t want to kill anyone. It’s that simple really,’ she said.
The episode took an even more emotional turn when she spoke to her Uncle Haydn – Evan’s son. Haydn explained that he felt immense pride for his late father, and when he began to tear up, we were gone as well.

Online, Fearne thanked fans for support, and on the show, she said she was looking forward to one day telling her own children about their family’s history.
