It was only last week that Masterchef viewers were flumoxed by Michelin-starred chef Shaun Rankin's mispronunciation of chorizo, but there's already a second furore: John Torode calling tartare sauce 'Tart-air'.
The incident happened on Wednesday night's Masterchef episode when John, one of the show’s judges, was assessing one contestant’s fish dish.
Contestant Alison had created a dish using leftover halibut, and John was clearly a fan.
‘You’ve cooked the fish with real sympathy, even though it’s scraps,’ he told her, before adding: ‘If I close my eyes I get fish fingers, chips and tart-air sauce – and that’s the comforting bit of it.’

Viewers were quick to question the professional chef’s pronunciation of the popular sauce, taking to Twitter to express their bewilderment.
And other fans of the show were equally as baffled:Where do you stand on the tartare debate?!
