On Sunday (29 Jan) David Beckham appeared on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs to celebrate the show's 75th anniversary.

And it wasn't just music the ex-footballer spoke about with presenter Kirsty Young. While appearing on the show, Becks candidly opened up about his marriage to wife Victoria, rubbishing claims they stay together for 'brand Beckham.'

'People have talked about "do we stay together because it's a brand?" Of course not,' he said.

'We stay together because we love each other. We stay together because we have four amazing children.'

'We're a strong family unit. We've got strong parents, we were brought up with the right values.'

He did however admit that like all couples, they do go through tough times, but it's all about 'working through it.'

'Of course you make mistakes over the years. We all know marriage is difficult at times, and it's about working through it.'

'We're very respectful of our life, and when we do go through tough times we work through them as a family, as a unit.'

David and Victoria Beckham married in 1999, and they have four children together: Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper.
