So it turns out that the nation's favourite breakfast staple is also the perfect artistic medium too.

This is according to artist Boris Toledo who mashes up avocados to turn them into some of the world's most recognisable faces.

The Chilean superfood fan decided that instead of mashing it on toast or serving it with poached eggs, he would use the scooped out inside to recreate the Mona Lisa, Amy Winehouse and the hosts of Good Morning America among others.

Boris revealed to the Daily Mail that the portraits initially took up to six hours to complete but can now be completed in around two.

He went on to explain that he was first inspired by his love of avocados, which he eats daily, and 'one day I wondered if it was possible to make drawings with it'.

Well, who hasn't wondered whether they could turn their scrambled eggs into a Van Gogh or their porridge into a Michelangelo?
