Parents of newborn or young babies will often find themselves listening to the piercing sounds of their screaming infant. But fear not – all is about to change!
Thankfully, Pediatrician Robert Hamilton has found the ultimate solution to settling a baby: a simple technique called ‘The Hold’.
The doctor, whose career spans over 30 years, has demonstrated the foolproof method on his YouTube channel, in a bid to help the many parents who struggle with their little ones. And, unsurprisingly, it’s had over five million views in the few days since it was posted.

Here's how to perform ‘The Hold’:
- Fold baby’s arms across its chest
- Secure arms and support the chin with one hand
- Grasp baby’s bottom with your dominant hand
- Gently rock at a 45 degree angle
Demonstrated on two crying babies, the technique definitely seems to work. So next time you can’t get your baby to settle, why not try Dr Hamilton's method?
