It's one thing being a potentially vulnerable woman out wandering the streets at night, alone, while drunk. It's no secret that a situation like that could very likely equal danger.
But you wouldn't think an intoxicated woman would be at the same kind of risk in broad daylight in the middle of the afternoon, right? Well, wrong, it seems. Because, somewhat worryingly, a new video has proved that a young woman could be just as much of a target for trouble during the daytime.
A Spanish actress took to the streets of Madrid to pretend she was 'passively' drunk. While standing around, swigging from a bottle, her aim was not to approach anyone or to bring any interaction on herself; but just to see how others related to her.
You'd hope that passers-by might spot that she was half-cut, alone and without a phone, and go out of their way to help her in any way they could, but the reality was almost the opposite of that.
The 10-minute-long video shows the woman consistently being approached by men, many of whom were actively encouraging her to continue drinking at bars with them.
But the situation takes a turn for the worse towards the end, when an on-duty waiter approaches the girl and attempts to become intimate with her. Not only does he alarmingly pin her up against the wall of a side-street, but he then tries to kiss her on numerous occasions. It's safe to say it makes for some uncomfortable viewing.
Worse still, however, when a member of the crew tries to break up the situation, claiming he knows the young woman, the waiter grabs hold of her and forcefully tells the crew-member not to take her away. It's a tense few moments as you wonder whether or not the cameramen will have to break out of their disguises to try to defuse the situation.
What is perhaps most terrifying about the video is witnessing how the woman almost becomes 'prey' thanks to her intoxicated and solitary state. That's not to say that all or any of the men accosting her had sinister intentions, but we would certainly have liked to believe that a stranger might be in safer hands out in public than this video appears to show.
