When grieving Don Jaquish lost his wife to cancer after a six-year battle, he kept a promise that he had made to his late wife Babbette. Her husband said of their marriage: ‘Everyone that ever met Babbette fell in love with her. I was just lucky enough to be the guy that she fell in love with. What we had is as good as it gets.’

During her illness, Babbette had set up a charity, Babbette’s Seeds of Hope, raising funds for cancer research and patient care – and the charity’s emblem was a sunflower. So, in a touching a beautiful tribute, Don planted a four-mile stretch of the flowers to give hope to other people living with cancer – and now the plants have flowered.
Hugging a four mile stretch of Wisconsin State Road 85, the seeds were sown in June 2015, and have provided a source of inspiration for everyone. One of Babbette’s daughters, Jenny White told KARE: ‘I couldn’t fathom until I saw how beautiful it was. We wanted it to be a statement of love. There’s 4.5 miles of sunflowers, and it’s an enormous, beautiful sight. And that’s just like my mom. That’s what she did with her life,’ White added to ABC News.
How beautiful.
