Most of us have experienced autocorrect problems when it comes to writing texts or emails, with our devices apparently having a tendency to ‘think for themselves’ – with just one, innocuous misspelled word suddenly changing the meaning of the whole message.
One person who fell foul of autocorrect was Marie Seggie, from Lanarkshire, Scotland, who ordered a cake from her friend via text message for her daughter’s 21st birthday. To add a special, finishing touch to the cake, Marie asked her friend to add an edible figurine of a ‘wee blond girl’, to represent her daughter.
However, good old auto-correct changed ‘blond girl’, to ‘blind girl’, and the cake maker gave Marie just that.

Marie’s daughter Emily, tweeted the finished cake (below), which has since gone viral, being retweeted over 14,000 times.
Speaking to BuzzFeed News, Emily Seggie, explained what happened when her mum text her friend placing the cake order,
“The text must have autocorrected to ‘blind girl’ and when my mum went to collect it she was wondering why it wasn’t blonde. They then realised what had happened after checking the text and decided to leave it on as was funny. Hope no one is offended.”
