Last night we watched with admiration as Britain’s top sport stars celebrated an unforgettable year at the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year awards.

A host of inspirational sportswomen dazzled on the red carpet, with the Duchess of Cambridge presenting the main prize to deserving Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins.

Since the terror attack, the Team GB sitting volleyball player has had a baby, got married and learnt to fly a plane - a true inspiration.
