Celebrities including Dame Joanna Lumley, Oti Mabuse, Sir Lenny Henry and Hugh Bonneville have starred in a brand new comedy sketch in support of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day.
In a new video released to promote the charity fundraising extravaganza, an all-star cast appear in mock audition tapes with hilarious results.
In a clip, Dame Joanna Lumley insists she no longer auditions for roles and extensively lists her many awards. Hugh Bonneville can be seen on the phone in confusion, certain that he was supposed to be auditioning as the new James Bond.
Oti Mabuse proves her athletic stamina by jumping and dancing continuously, while comedian Rosie Jones arrives dressed in a full banana costume. Even Mr Bobby gets in on the action, attempting a reading from The Complete Works of William Shakespeare.
Sir Lenny Henry finally interrupts the chaos to point out the real heroes of Red Nose Day and inform viewers that the event will take place on Friday 18 March this year.
In a release, Dame Joanna Lumley said she was, “honoured to be asked to be involved in Red Nose Day,” and wanted, “this year to be big, because times have been so dark and strange.”
“Let’s make this one fabulous!” she added.
Strictly Come Dancing’s Oti Mabuse said what she loves most about the charity fundraising event is, “that it supports so many incredible causes and the money helps thousands of families, not only in the UK but around the world.
“I come from South Africa and I've seen poverty first-hand but knowing that even just a little bit - whether £5 or £100 - goes a long way, shows just how much every donation can help make a difference to those who need it most."
A televised Red Nose Day show will be hosted by Sir Lenny Henry alongside David Tennant, Zoe Ball and Paddy McGuiness. It will air live on BBC One on Friday 18 March.
A range of T-shirts has also launched in support of Comic Relief, which are available to buy at TK Maxx. The clothing has been designed by 11 different artists including Gok Wan and Rachel Joy.
A long line of celebrities have taken part in a campaign to show their support, and photographs of them in the new designs have now been released.
