The coronavirus outbreak has caused disruption in every corner of society, but for those over 70, it means confinement to their homes for at least three months. Preparing essentials for this self-isolation was made even harder a shortage of certain essentials on supermarket shelves.
In an attempt to help, laundry service Laundryheap has launched an initiative facilitating the public to buy cleaning care packages for elderly or vulnerable people. You can buy a package for someone you know or 'pay it forward' and Laundryheap will make sure it gets to someone in need, working with charities such as Age UK.
The packages are filled with essential cleaning and hygiene supplies. You can buy a £23.90 care package for an older person you know (currently reduced to £19.90), or if you don't have a specific older person you would like to gift a care package to, you can enter AGE UK as the address, and the charity will get it to an older person in need.

Laundryheap was inspired by the heartbreaking pictures on social media of older people in supermarkets struggling to get what they needed. It came up with this initiative to make sure as many people as possible get the supplies they need without having to leave their house, or worry about cost.
Laundryheap CEO Deyan Dimitrov commented: “We are proud to be launching this ‘pay it forward’ initiative. Older people within the community need our support more than ever and we want to ensure these essential items can get to them safely.

Packages are distributed at cost and any 'profit' made from purchases will go towards more packs for Age UK to distribute.
