Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi announced their engagement on Thursday (26 September) with a series of stunning photos shared across social media.

And it turns out that the bride-to-be's younger sister, Princess Eugenie, was behind the camera!

The photos, taken in a beautiful garden, show a beaming Beatrice wowing in a long-sleeved floral dress by the designer brand Zimmerman. There is also a close-up of her stunning diamond engagement ring.

Sharing the snaps on her own Instagram account, Eugenie revealed how thrilled she is for her older sister.

"Beabea - wow! I'm so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo," she wrote. "It's been a long time coming and you two are meant to be. 📷 by me!!

The 29-year-old, who married Jack Brooksbank last October, then posted the happy couple's words from an official statement released by Buckingham Palace earlier this morning.

"We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement," Beatrice and Edoardo said.

"We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can't wait to actually be married.

"We share so many similar interests and values, and we know that this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness."

Buckingham Palace announced in the statement that Beatrice, 31, and Italian property developer Edoardo, 34, will marry next year, after becoming engaged earlier this month.

Huge congratulations to the happy couple!
