The One Show presenter Alex Jones returned to work on Tuesday evening (26 February) after sharing that she was being monitored in hospital and went in for an emergency check-up when she couldn't feel her baby move.

Alex is currently expecting her second child with husband Charlie Thomson and on Tuesday she took to Instagram to share that she went to the hospital as she hadn't felt much movement from the baby in a few days.

Thankfully, the check-up revealed all was well with both mother and baby, and Alex urged any expectant mothers who may have similar concerns to get checked out too.

"Hadn't felt much movement from the baby for a few days so lying here being monitored," she wrote on a picture of herself in the hospital bed.

"If in doubt mammas ALWAYS check! So reassuring to hear the heartbeat."

She also followed up her post with another message thanking everyone for their support and confirming that everything is well with the baby.

"All was fine at the hospital," she wrote. "His or hers little heart beat was going like the clappers but good to check. Thanks for the messages."

Alex shared the wonderful news that she's expecting her second child during a live episode of The One Show back in December.

At the time, she and her co-host Matt Baker were finishing up the show when Alex decided to break the news live on air, saying: "A bit of news before we go. I’ve not been on the mince pie, there is a little baby [in there]!"

Alex has previously admitted that she rushed herself back to work after welcoming her first son Teddy, but stressed that there was no pressure on her from her "brilliant" bosses at the BBC.

"They couldn't have been more supportive," she said. "They were brilliant. The head of BBC One, my own boss on The One Show, they were fantastic."

The One Show airs Mondays through Fridays at 7pm on BBC One.
