Has Prince George just revealed that he has an unexpected nickname? The five-year-old royal reportedly told a dog walker that he's known as "Archie" while out walking with his grandmother Carole Middleton and sister Princess Charlotte in Berkshire.

The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said she had a conversation with the young prince when he approached to stroke her dog.

"I was asked by a police minder not to take a photo of the children, which I didn’t, but George started stroking my dog," she told The Sun.

"Just to be friendly I engaged in a bit of small talk and I asked George what his name was, even though obviously I knew it. To my astonishment he said, 'I’m called Archie' with a big smile on his face. I don’t know why he calls himself Archie but kids often play with their names and I think it’s lovely."

Prince George's middle names are Alexander and Louis, so it's unclear as to where the moniker comes from.

Good Housekeeping UK contacted Kensington Palace about this story but they declined to comment.
