Relive the family's adventures on holiday in Corfu
After four hit seasons, The Durrells ended in 2019, leaving us desperate for more of the family’s adventures on the stunning Greek island of Corfu. Luckily, you can relive all the magic by streaming it on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV or ITVX.
The show succeeded in bringing Gerald Durrell’s beloved book My Family and other Animals and its two sequels to life for fans old and new, as well as reminding us of the beauty of Corfu, Greece where The Durrells is filmed.

Corfu Town
A lively mix of French, English, Venetian and Greek architecture, reflecting Corfu’s shifting rulers over the centuries, the island’s capital is where the Durrells live and the location for plenty of the outdoor action in the show.
The charming Old Town, in particular, is worth visiting and you’ll recognise the central green that hosted the family’s cricket match from season two.

Kalami Bay
Considered one of Corfu’s most beautiful corners, this gleaming resort on the island’s northeast coast is where you’ll find the White House, where real-life Larry Durrell lived with his wife Nancy. Now it's a sleepy tourist destination for beach-lovers.
Where to stay: For an adults-only haven, head to San Antonio Corfu Resort, an upscale hideaway with extraordinary sea views. It's wonderfully located above the beach and offers a true taste of Greece at a pair of restaurants and a lounge bar.
Sinarades
Get a sense of the real old Corfu among the narrow stone streets of Sinarades, where you’ll find an old bell tower, folklore museum and bright white chapel on a nearby island. Walk to the Aerostato cliffs for stunning views across Agios Gordios beach.
Where to stay: For a great value, simple stay, Bohali's House comes highly recommended. It sleeps two in a comfortable little house, but the real draw is the balcony and proximity to beautiful Agios Gordios Beach.
Agios Stefanos
Popular with visitors to the island, this tiny fishing village is home to a handful of traditional Cofiot tavernas and a historic church. It was also used as a location in the fourth season.
Where to stay: Treat yourself to a spot within Pictures Suites, which offers majestic views of the Diapontia islands across the glimmering sea. There's a choice of four sleek suites, and you'll get a delicious in-room breakfast in each.
The beaches at Erimitis
Corfu’s northeastern tip is home to some stunning white sand coves, where you’ll be able to enjoy some blissful tranquillity in an area used for the fourth and final season.
Where to stay: The best way to stay in this scenic spot is to rent a villa like Corfu Erimitis, which sleeps nine in three double, one twin and one single bedroom. There's a private pool and fully equipped kitchen, and beautiful Avlaki bay is only 100m from the villa.
Halikounas Beach
This impressively long beach stretches out along narrow strip of land in southwestern Corfu, where visitors can enjoy sweeping views across the Ionian Sea, or of Lake Korission – shown in the series – behind.
Where to stay: On the opposite side of this narrow strip of Corfu, you'll find The Olivar Suites, which is just next to the equally blissful Messonghi Beach. Expect a serene swimming pool and the soothing sound of birdsong at this upscale retreat.
Danilia
This privately owned heritage village has been modelled to look exactly as settlements on the island would have done in the 1930s - you’ll recognise it from the family’s trips to the market in season two. It was also used as a location in James Bond film For Your Eyes Only.
Where to stay: Corfu Club Family House is, as the name implies, a treat for the whole family. With three bedrooms and a bathroom, it sleeps six comfortably, and there's a pool and BBQ to entertain you all.
Sidari
Noted for its nightlife and beaches, Sidari is a popular holiday resort with an ancient monastery and the Diapontia Islands a short boat ride away, with quiet coves and mysterious caves to explore.
Where to stay: Less than a kilometre from Sidari Beach you'll find Tereza's Hotel, a low-key and authentic complex of studios and apartments. It's particularly well-suited to families looking for a relaxed, fun-filled holiday in this buzzy spot.
