Witness the majestic Victoria Falls in Zambia
When it comes to waterfalls, Victoria Falls has to be one of the most spectacular in the world. Straddling the Malawi-Zambia border, it runs off the great Zambezi River, thundering over cliffs and down to the canyons below. In fact, the falls are also known as the Mosi-oa-Tunya, ‘the smoke that thunders’.
This jaw-dropping landmark is best viewed from a sailing boat on the Zambezi River – you may even spot hippos, crocodiles and elephants in the water. If you fancy upping the adrenaline levels, head to Livingston, Zambia, for some high-octane action such as bungee jumping or zip lining.
Go diving in Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef
Nowhere does big, bold and beautiful quite like Australia – and Queensland boasts no less than five of the country’s World Heritage Sites, as well as another of the seven natural wonders: the Great Barrier Reef.
The world’s largest coral reef has over 900 islands, 3,000 separate reefs, and sustains a diverse ecosystem. Its pristine waters, full of colourful shoals of fish, coral and marine life, are perfect for snorkelling and diving. If you prefer kicking back, sunbathing on its white sand beaches, or taking a seaplane to see this natural masterpiece from the sky are just as satisfying.
