The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit Wales during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend, as Buckingham Palace revealed more details about the plans of senior royals as Her Majesty marks 70 years on the British throne.
While much of the official celebrations during the four Bank Holiday weekend (from 2 June to 5 June) will take place in London, it has now been announced that Prince William and Kate Middleton will be among the senior royals who will tour the UK during that period.
The Earl and Countess of Wessex will visit Northern Ireland, while Princess Anne will visit Scotland to attend Platinum Jubilee events.
Meanwhile, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will likely participate to London celebrations next month.
The attendance of the Queen herself, will be confirmed at a later date after mobility issues led Her Majesty to cancel a number of appearances in recent weeks.
Across the country, many celebrations will be taking place on the bank holiday weekend to mark The Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
A statement from The Royal Family details that major events will include The Queen’s Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour), Platinum Jubilee Beacons, a Service of Thanksgiving, The Derby at Epsom Downs, a Platinum Party at the Palace, The Big Jubilee Lunch and The Jubilee Pageant.
Celebrations will run throughout the year, too. Major commemorations that have launched so far include The Queen's Green Canopy Initiative, The Platinum Pudding Competition and the release of The Platinum Jubilee Portrait.
