Last night Cancer Research UK’s ‘Women of Influence’ held a night of glamour to aid female researchers and help beat cancer sooner.

BAGS, Bangles & Brooches, was the inaugural fundraising event for Cancer Research UK’s Women of Influence initiative, was held last night and raised over £150,139 to support exceptional female cancer researchers.

Over 500 guests, including TV presenter Donna Air, Lady Celia Dunstone and Sky News presenter Kay Burley, enjoyed a champagne reception and live auction held by Sotheby’s.

The money-can’t-buy items included an iconic Dolce & Gabbana handbag donated by Kylie Minogue, breakfast at Tiffany’s which fetched £3,500, a spectacular Hirsh London sapphire and diamond bangle that raised £6,500 and beautiful handbags from the likes of Jimmy Choo, Tom Ford and Anya Hindmarch.

Cancer Research UK’s Women of Influence initiative supports some of the best female scientists in the UK in the early stages of their careers to encourage more women to take up this career route.
