Blue hair, theatrical bows and even a cape: Dame Helen Mirren’s most iconic looks as she turns 80

Dame Helen Mirren wowed on the runway as she walked in 'Le Defile - Walk Your Worth' L'Oreal Show at Paris Fashion Week in 2023. She looked stunning in a glittering gown with split sleeves and flowing, voluminous hair.

Dame Helen looked positively regal in a head-to-toe emerald green look during a dinner at Highgrove House. The long sleeve lace bodice connected to a flowing, multi-layered skirt, and Dame Helen finished the look with a headband rather than hat or fascinator, for a modern touch.

Back with another knotted headband, Dame Helen was a vision in a fuchsia gown with flared sleeves and mirrored detailing for the Ora! Film Festival in Italy.

Dame Helen Mirren surprised us all with her most recent trip to The Championships. Even more iconic than her perfectly on-point tea dress for the occasion, was her partner-in-crime for the day - Stormzy.

Of course, Dame Helen has been acting on stage and screen for decades, and this photograph documents one of her earlier roles in period dress, featuring ringlet curls, back in the 1960s.

Who could forget this stunning gown, which Dame Helen wore for the Academy Awards in 2019? The fabulous maxi dress featured layers of pink, purple, orange and gold which spun out to create a show-stopping spectacle.

Never one to fade into the background, Dame Helen opted for an exciting twist on the classic LBD. Using statement accessories including heavy jewels, a trailing waist-tie and avant-garde head-piece she created a truly dramatic ensemble on the red carpet.

Dame Helen turned heads as she walked the Cannes red carpet, debuting her brand new blue and lilac dyed hair. It was a complete departure from her usual silver locks, and matching her hair to her dress took head-to-toe colour blocking to a new level.

Dame Helen opted for another dramatic look at the Shazam! Fury of the Gods screening in London, wearing a hot pink cape, complete with a theatrical bow. She completed the look with an impressive pair of sky-high heels boots. Iconic.
