On 8 September 2022, Buckingham Palace announced that Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, died peacefully at the age of 96 at Balmoral.
In light of the news of the Queen's passing, we are republishing this piece in memoriam of the relationship she shared with her husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who she described as her “strength and stay”.
Her Majesty and Prince Philip celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary in November 2020, before it was announced on 9 April 2021 that Prince Philip had sadly passed away.
Across more than seven decades, the Queen and Prince Philip have enjoyed a lifetime of memories together, with their family of four children, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
