You know that wonderful feeling when you find a dress that fits you like it was made just for you and that you feel gorgeous in? Well here’s mine! I bought it last weekend and it’s my new favourite thing – set to see me through a winter wedding, an evening at the opera and a posh work dinner. Heck, it’s already paid for itself! The added bonus? It looks like silk, it feels like silk, but it’s actually 100% polyester so can be bunged in the washing machine!

Having found my perfect frock, next on my lust list is the perfect pair of shoes to go with it. And it’s these slingbacks in luxurious velvet with a pretty tie detail and slim heels. I think they scream sophistication and I’ll be pointing out their loveliness to my husband in the hope he gets the hint!

So the promise goes, Charlotte Tilbury has discovered the shades to make every eye colour pop and they come in this single, shimmery palette. The four colours are pink, gold, deep purple and warm taupe and there are instructions how to use them together to build an easy day eye or a dramatic, decadent evening look – something we’ll all be needing come party time! In a lovely starburst case, this would also make a fab gift for a special friend.

Every woman needs a signature fragrance to take her through her life. So, while you may fall in love with different scents from time to time, there’s one that you always return to and that starts to feel like home. This one, Dune by Christian Dior, is mine. I’ve been wearing it on and off for 30 years and, if I inhale it and close my eyes, I can conjure up so many happy memories. It’s what I’ll be wearing all festive season.

An absolutely unmissable book by The Queen’s Personal Advisor and Dresser, Angela Kelly, I shall be buying it for my mum, my godmother, my sister, a number of friends and colleagues this Christmas. It includes fascinating and charming pictures and anecdotes about Angela’s 25 years dressing and advising the Monarch. I especially love a snap taken by Angela of The Queen with her feet up. You get a real sense of a warm and deep friendship between two special women in extraordinary roles.

If, like me, you thought clothing retailer Seasalt Cornwall was all about fabulous rain coats, wellies and woollies, then you’re in for a lovely surprise! It’s also producing a cracking range of partywear that feels a little different to the rest of the high street.
